I work well with teens who are struggling more intensively with the normal developmental tasks of adolescence. Their grades may not reflect their obvious intelligence. They may be isolating themselves, angry, secretive, and rejecting. They’re struggling in their friendships, to fit in. I have also worked successfully with adolescent issues related to ADD and ADHD, depression, and disordered eating.
My experience working with teens in two different clinical settings - in private practice and at Edgewood Center for Children and Families, a level 14 group home facility, with youth who had been abused, traumatized and neglected - has prepared me to work with a wide range of issues.
Depending on the case and nature of the presenting issue, I may involve parents/caregivers in the treatment.
